Budget Enduro Delivers Wet and Wild Action at Sandown Raceway!

The Budget Enduro at Sandown Raceway unfolded amidst a wet and drizzly day, adding an extra challenge to the mix. Despite the weather, the event saw an impressive turnout with 17 entries, showcasing the true spirit of endurance racing.

The day didn’t come without its technical hiccups. The timing computer decided to call it quits early on, causing an unexpected delay. As if that wasn’t enough, the installation process hit a snag when Microsoft decided it was the perfect time for an update. Thanks, Microsoft, for the added suspense!

The race kicked off with the SORTHARE Suzuki Racing Team taking the lead for most of the first hour, only to be overtaken by 924 Motorsport as the race progressed. The tricky wet conditions pushed drivers to their limits, resulting in a few spins and Wingit facing a lengthy pit stop, shuffling the order.

The second hour brought its own drama as Team Rhonda found themselves in a gravel trap, prompting a safety car period. Team Send It made a remarkable surge to snatch the lead, while Team Ronald McDonald Nugget faced gravel trap trouble after extensive repairs.

As the race clocked into its third hour, Team Ron steadily climbed the order, securing the lead momentarily before an unfortunate encounter with the wall. This mishap allowed Team Send It to regain the lead.

The fourth hour saw Team Guff encountering a damp spot, causing a spin just before Dandenong Rd corner. Meanwhile, The Real POTC’s gravel mishap led to a full-course caution, enabling 924 Motorsport to sneak past Team Send It and claim the lead.

However, the closing hour witnessed a drying track, escalating the pace and setting the stage for a thrilling battle among Slow and Slower, 924 Motorsport, and Team Send It.

Noteworthy performances included Too Fast Too Focus as the top-placed rookie team, and Flat Knacker Racing displaying consistent performance throughout the race.

The Budget Enduro at Sandown Raceway was a testament to endurance, strategy, and adapting to unpredictable conditions, showcasing the true essence of motorsport.
